No, the Panamera is.
But is the Tesla Model S the ultimate Panamera killer? I'd like to think so, but it'll be some time before the sales represent that

No. Simply because of this . A Tesla is great, but it will never be this great.

When that turns into sales, lets chat.
I've only ever seen 2 Rapide's. I've seen countless Panameras and into the 10s of Model Ss

Is that what we're defining killer as? Sales figures?
That's applicable in some scenarios, but for the Rapide? Sales figures aren't particularly relevant.
The answer is no, because this:
I like the Tesla, I think it's a great car and a big deal, but it (and all EVs) will forever lack the emotional appeal of an Aston's exhaust symphony.

Not really. No one buys Astons for practicality.
By that logic, the 911 should've killed the Vantage V8 years ago.

How are sales figures not relevant? If no one buys it, clearly it's not accomplishing whatever the hell it set out to do. It's a car, not an art piece. As much as we like to attach emotions to automobiles the fact of the matter is production cars exist to make their builders money.
I assumed he meant in terms of sales, but if not then in terms of what? There's no quantifiable way to describe something as a killer. Performance?

No, because beauty.

It's irrelevant because it's a low-volume market by definition. Even if Aston could sell every Rapide they could make, it wouldn't mach a Panamera or Tesla in sales figures. It couldn't, because it's not designed to.
No, there's no quantifiable way, but there's also no need to quantify everything. If we did, then the marketplace would be a terrifically boring place.
The real answer is that there's no such thing as a "Rapide Killer" because it's not the kind of car that gets cross shopped. If you get it, you buy one (if you have the means), and if you don't, you don't. Aston has a history of making cars for Aston owners, not for the marketplace at large; this is one such automobile, and you certainly can't quantify that.

No. The guy who is looking for a car with a V12 is not looking at a Tesla. Maybe it would lose out to buyers against an S65 or a Panamera (i.e. other luxury cars with big ass engines) but not an electric but not a Model S. From an exclusivity standpoint, the Model S is too pedestrian/common.

No. Never. As much as I admire Elon Musk, and as much as I want to own a Tesla, Nothing will ever beat that feeling I had when the owner of a brand new Aston Martin Rapide cranked it up and drove round the block at high revs. Pure. Sheer. MAD. VROOOOOOOOOOOM.
